Community Outreach at Northern College
At Northern College, our Outreach team is dedicated to creating life‑changing opportunities for adults across our communities. We’ve built strong, long‑standing partnerships with charities, community groups, housing associations and support services, all with one shared goal: helping people grow in confidence, develop new skills and take positive steps toward their future.
Whether you support adults who are returning to learning, rebuilding their wellbeing, or exploring new pathways, we’re here to work alongside you with warmth, flexibility and expertise.
What We Offer
We shape our offer around the needs of your organisation and the people you support. This can include:
- Courses delivered directly in the community
- Bespoke group visits to the College
- Residential study options for an immersive learning experience
- Flexible group bookings
- A welcoming ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ introduction course
- Introductory in areas such as digital skills, confidence‑building, ESOL, employability and creative subjects
Our aim is to remove barriers, build trust and create a positive first step into learning.
Five Ways to Wellbeing: A Gentle Introduction to Learning
This relaxed, enjoyable short course gives groups a friendly first experience of Northern College. Built around the Five Ways to Wellbeing - Keep Learning, Connect, Give, Take Notice and Keep Active - it helps people:
- Build confidence
- Meet others in a supportive environment
- Explore what learning could look like for them
- Take a positive step toward future opportunities
We’ll work flexibly around your service to arrange dates that suit your group.
How Working With Us Works
We keep things simple and supportive:
1. Get in touch to tell us a little about your group.
2. We explore your needs together and discuss the best approach.
3. Our team designs a tailored session or visit based on what will benefit your organisation the most.
4. We deliver the course or activity in your community or at the College.
5. We offer guidance on next steps, helping learners continue their journey depending upon their intended destination.
Our team is friendly, experienced and passionate about helping adults take that first step.
Real Impact, Real Stories
Our Outreach work has helped people:
