Everyday Maths for Life and Work is a two-day tailored learning course designed for You who are preparing to start Functional Skills Maths within the next few weeks. It is ideal for those who have completed the Maths Reset course or already have a good grasp of basic number skills and are ready to apply maths in real-life situations. This engaging course focuses on practical problem-solving and the maths skills needed for everyday life, the workplace and further learning. You will build confidence in using maths independently and develop the skills required to progress onto Functional Skills qualifications. What you'll learn Measure and Shape
Telling the time, using timetables and calculating duration Understanding metric units and converting between you Calculating perimeter and area in practical contexts
Data and Problem Solving
Reading and interpreting charts, tables and graphs Understanding real-life data and drawing conclusions Selecting appropriate methods to solve problems Organising information to tackle multi-step tasks
Applied Number
Ratio and proportion Fractions, decimals and percentages Applying maths to everyday situations such as budgeting, shopping offers, recipes and workplace tasks
