Course description
This course aims to assist You to develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for those with dementia. It covers areas such as person-centred care, the influence of positive communication methods, issues relating to the use of medication for those with dementia and the importance of providing appropriate activities.
This course is designed for individuals interested in developing knowledge and skills as part of your work role in a range of different sectors. It is delivered over sixteen sessions and you must be able to attend every session in order to successfully complete this qualification.
You will study the following units:
- Unit 01: Dementia Awareness
- Unit 02: The person centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia.
- Unit 03: Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia.
- Unit 04: Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.
What can this course lead to?
Course progression
Upon completion, you could progress onto a further course, including:
- Level 2 Mental Health
- Level 3 Access to HE Health Science Professions Diploma
